An exceptional and highly unusual example of German Jugendstil decorative art, manufactured by the renowned Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) circa 1906.
This elegant bonbon bowl stand features a beautifully pierced openwork frame with sweeping, organic Art Nouveau lines, complete with its original thick crystal glass insert and matching lid.
Based on its elegant scale, this piece represents the highly sought-after WMF confectionery/bonbon line documented in their historic 1906 trade catalogue.
Collector & Factory Markings:
• Base Stamps: Fully marked with the authentic early factory stamps WMF, OX (Oxydiert), and EP (Electroplated).
• The “OX” Finish: Please note that the darkened, moody patina is entirely intentional. WMF chemically oxidised (OX) these pieces at the factory to create deep contrast shadows, making the intricate Art Nouveau relief lines pop beautifully against the bright silver highlights. It has been preserved in its authentic historical state and should not be polished away.
• Structural Marks: Stamped NS (Nickel Silver / Alpacca) on the rim and handles, indicating a premium, durable base metal underneath the thick silver plating. The matching lid is also crafted from the same nickel-silver base, showcasing identical, natural period oxidisation.

Condition Report:
Presented in lovely, honest antique condition for its age. The metal frame and lid retain a beautifully even factory-oxidised patina. To remain perfectly transparent for online collectors: the lid rim is slightly uneven on one side (consistent with careful handling over the last 120 years but still sits nicely), and the original crystal insert displays a couple of very light, minor surface scratches only visible upon close inspection. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
