A rare, highly detailed Victorian figural desk novelty shaped as a wild boar’s head, dating to circa 1850–1880. This clever dual-purpose piece features a strong, spring-loaded mouth mechanism for clipping letters and a natural bristle brush along the spine once used as a fountain pen wipe.

Features & Condition

Materials: Gilt bronze, natural bristles set in bone, and two intact, vibrant red inset glass eyes.

Condition: Excellent antique condition. The internal spring is tight and functional. The original gilt finish shows handsome, age-related wear that exposes a warm underlying bronze patina.

Markings: Unmarked, which is typical for 19th-century retail metalware.
